Applications are invited for nomination as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Property Management in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (Ref. 512188), commencing August 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. This will be a three-year fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal and consideration of tenure before the expiration of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
The Department of Real Estate and Construction (REC) enjoys a world-class reputation for its research and teaching in real estate development and management. It operates long-established, highly successful and competitive professional training programs with alumni serving in leadership positions in both the public and private sectors. Its academic staff have a wide range of expertise, covering virtually all aspects of land, construction, real estate and conservation, with a growing interest in digital technologies and data analytics. As part of the Faculty of Architecture, REC contributes to the world ranking of 14and under the QS University Subject Rankings 2021 in Built Environment. Its research quality is ranked 1st in the Built Environment panel according to the Hong Kong Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in real estate or related fields, with research experience in real estate management, economics or finance. The appointee will teach a real estate and asset management course, other undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervise postgraduate research students, actively contribute to research and knowledge exchange and assume service/administrative responsibilities as required.
The appointee will also be expected to develop their research within the framework of HKUrbanLabs, the research arm of the Faculty of Architecture. The labs bring together the research and outreach energies of specialists in architecture, conservation, construction management, housing, landscape, planning, real estate, surveying, transportation , urban design, urban economics and urban studies. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At the current rate, payroll tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will result in an end-of-contract gratuity and a contribution from the University to a pension scheme, totaling up to 15% of base salary. Housing allowances will be provided where applicable.
