Real estate business explodes during a pandemic

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (WXYZ) – A new home under construction in Birmingham is just one block from the office where Simon Thomas runs a growing real estate brokerage firm in a booming real estate market.

“We have recruited just under 80 agents in just 2.5 years, our sales are booming and the industry is great, I touch wood, that was a big part,” Thomas, who runs Dobi Real Estate, mentioned.

According to Thomas, company culture also plays a key role in their success in attracting agents who generate listings and close deals.

“I think our growth really comes from doing what we say we’re going to do, it’s very important to us, our core values are very important to us,” he said.

They are also the focus of Dobi’s marketing brochure for recruiting agents.

  • Boss up
  • Customer first and foremost
  • Create value
  • Be humble
  • Come together

“One of the things we talk about all the time here is that you are not on a team, you are your own individual, the sky is the limit, go ahead, but you come here and you have supporting a team is like that, ”said Thomas.

There are no agent offices in Dobi’s 4,000 square foot office space. it is open and collaborative by design.

“You have a $ 30-40 million producer sitting next to a $ 3 million producer, how much can they learn from each other?” Thomas said. “I didn’t know what that was. was going to happen when we did, i was just saying please work and it works.

According to Thomas, they finished last year with 48 agents and averaged about $ 5.2 million per agent.

“It’s unheard of, so I love watching it because our agents make money here, our agents all make a living,” he said.

Thomas said he would like to expand to multiple locations at the end, with maybe 5-7 locations for everyone to enjoy.
