Business records: DL’s real estate company under new owner; DEED says unemployment at pre-pandemic levels in Minnesota

The Detroit Lakes real estate company is under new ownership after being bought by a longtime real estate agent with the company in April 2021.

North was born and raised in Detroit Lakes and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. He also has previous experience as a project manager for a commercial entrepreneur in the Twin Cities.

He said he hopes to implement new multimedia and technology in the company’s future announcements by including free 3D tours and aerial drone footage for their customers.

Nord cited the Lakes Country Association of Realtors for its business sales figures and also pointed out that TREC won the Best of the Lakes 2021 Real Estate Brokerage Award for the third year in a row.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development revised its unemployment percentage in October to 3.5%, according to a press release issued on Nov. 18 by the agency.

The revised statewide unemployment rate of 3.5% is the same percentage as in March 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic began to force stay-at-home orders and measures mitigation program to combat the virus that has affected thousands of Minnesota businesses.

The agency said the cause for the October review was due to people moving from unemployment to employment. However, statewide labor force participation remains below, 67.8%, the pre-pandemic March 2020 levels of 70.2%.

“At DEED, we continue to work with unemployed Minnesota workers, helping them find work that meets the needs of their families,” said Steve Grove, commissioner of DEED.

The report also pointed out that the average hourly wage for Minnesota employees rose to $ 33.43, an 8.7% increase from September 2019.

The National Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures inflation, reported that prices rose on average 0.8% in October, totaling a 6.2% increase for the year.

Minnesota also gained 9,900 jobs in October, an increase of 0.3% from September totals. Over the year as a whole, the state gained 94,455 salaried jobs, up 3.4%, according to the agency’s report.
