Broll Ghana Limited, a real estate services company, wants more awareness about the Estate Agents Act 2020.
The law aims to regulate the practice of real estate agencies and business transactions in real estate, including the sale, purchase, rental and leasing of real estate.
The company believes that the only way to ensure full implementation of the law is for industry players to lead education on the law with the public and other relevant stakeholders.
The call was made at an industry network event organized by Broll Ghana Limited.
It was themed “Broll Drives On Key Trends in the Ghanaian Real Estate Market”.
“The government did its part by passing the law. It is the industry players who must create the advocacy that will drive the effective implementation and prosecution of the law. Firstly because we are the ones who are going to use it in the end, it is in our interests that it is put in place,” said the firm’s managing director, Tony Sekyere.
He indicated that this would be beneficial for the real estate sector.
“That’s why we did this to make sure we create that awareness and that the government sees the importance we also place on what he’s done for the industry. That’s not the end We will consider doing more to raise awareness about the industry and the regulatory side of things,” Sekyere added.
The industry network event was honored by key stakeholders involved, including KNUST Land Economics Department Lecturer Jonathan Zinizi Ayitey, Land Commission Deputy Director of Land Administration, Timothy Anyidoho, and Acting Managing Director of the Real Estate Consulting Agency, Nana Otu Turkson.
For the Head of Valuation and Advocacy Services at Broll Ghana Limited, Ken Mensah, who was the guest speaker, the company is determined to tap into the virtual world by explaining that technology is advancing rapidly and changing the scope of the property sector.
