J. Gerard Green got his start in real estate 30 years ago, selling statewide franchise licenses for RE/MAX, one of the nation’s largest real estate brokerage brands.
Now he has decided to buy his own franchise.
Green, a native of Western New York, opened his own agency in his hometown of East Aurora called Re/MAX Precision. Located at 72 Hamburg St., the new agency plans to hire at least 10 agents by the end of the year, and Green hopes to open additional offices in Western New York in the future.
He said he remembered RE/MAX having at least seven offices locally in the 1990s, with 80 to 100 agents. “My goal is to rebuild the RE/MAX name in Western New York as it was in the 1990s,” he said.
Green began his real estate career in 1989 as a franchise business associate for RE/MAX of New York, working to expand the brand with new agencies across the state. After three years, he became a RE/MAX sales agent, where he spent the next seven years selling properties.

In 1999, he became director of Barry Chubb’s Metro Chubb, running an office in Orchard Park and building it to 14 agents and $14 million in volume, before moving to Stovroff & Taylor, the agency that preceded RealtyUSA, where it will remain until that was acquired by Howard Hanna Real Estate Services of Pittsburgh.
In 2018, he joined his original business at his RE/MAX North branch in Amherst, before going freelance this year.
